Marine First Aid
HLTAID009, HLTAID013 & HLTAID014
Our Marine First Aid training is specifically designed for boat owners, yacht skippers, watersports instructors and crew. The course focuses on first-aid situations in a marine setting where you are far from help and alone with a patient for a long time. The training incorporates the use of arterial tourniquets in shark attacks or other causes of arterial bleeding.
First Aid 000 is uniquely positioned to offer this outstanding Marine First Aid skill set as your trainers are marine professionals who hold advanced first aid, diving and marine commercial qualifications obtained over many years of experience at sea.
Our nationally accredited training exceeds the mandatory first aid requirements for racing yachtsmen and women, is highly recommended for all who venture offshore under power or sail and your training:
- Exceeds the Australian Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing first aid requirements in Australian Sailing Special Regulations Part 1.
- Exceeds the Australian Maritime and Safety Authority (AMSA) Regulations, Marine Order 505 Certificates of Competency
- Certificates valid for 3 years for First Aid and 12 months for CPR
Additional training in First Aid and Resuscitation for Divers who have breathed compressed gas is available for divers.

Recertification requirements
The Safe Work Australia First Aid Model Code of Practice requires employers to ensure that their nominated first aiders attend training on a regular basis to remain current. The Code of Practice recommends that refresher training in CPR/AED should be undertaken annually from the date of issue and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years from the date of issue to maintain currency.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Every student requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to obtain a certificate or qualification from their registered training organisation when studying a nationally recognised training course in Australia.
A USI gives you access to an online account which keeps all your training records together, even if you move locations, change training organisations or undertake studies at different times in your life. For more information ask your training organisation or visit www.usi.gov.au.
